Letting Go of Not Knowing Who You Are

Letting Go of Not Knowing Who You Are

If you sometimes feel as if you don’t know who you are, it is just because too many people are forcing their own ideas on you about who should you be, instead of letting you be who you already are. It is time to let go of all of these unreasonable expectations of others and be the authentic you again.

We all have our moments, when we feel completely lost when we feel like there is no direction for us, no meaning in our life, like there is not even a future or life for us.

However, that is just because we have lost, for a moment, the sense of who we really are. We have simply lost the connection with our true selves and we need to re-establish this connection again.

This feeling of not knowing who we are is, as a matter of fact, a very common one, and is often a direct result of the pressure of our surroundings, including society, our family, our work, media, and even schools and some religions.

We are constantly being pushed into other people’s perceptions regarding who we should be, how we should act, how we should deliver on the acceptance of others.

As a result, we feel a constant inner battle between who we are, who we want to be, and who the surroundings want us to be. No surprise that in such a mess, we don’t know who we really are at all!

Fortunately, it is all, again, just a feeling. And any feeling can be let go!

Once we identify these negative feelings connected to the question of who we really are, or just to the negative feeling of not knowing who we are, we will be able to release these negative feelings, let them go, and rediscover the unique “I” behind them. It is like a lot of haze being in our head, but once this haze is dissolved gradually by constantly letting go, what we will finally see is our clear, authentic self. And this is the moment when we reconnect with our true self again, and our life will start having a direction again. Energy, peace and abundance will come back to our lives – simply because we will be finally allowed to express ourselves fully and therefore start attracting everything we have always wanted in our lives with a new level of confidence, self-esteem, faith and a certain level of joy, instead of fear.

The concept of letting go of not knowing who we are is one of the most abstract concepts in which we can apply letting go to, but it is also the one having the biggest possible long-term impact. This, surely, is again something that quite often needs more letting go exercises and, for a full impact, it might need to be practiced for a few weeks, perhaps even months. But it is truly a life changing experience, once the haze and doubts about who we are let go. Sometimes, it is even like being reborn.

Here is the letting go process for who you are:

  1. In a quiet place, close your eyes. Let your mind bring up any feelings in relation to not knowing who you are. Don’t judge any of them! Very important!
  2. Start embracing and experiencing these feelings fully.
  3. Again, DON’T JUDGE any of these feelings, and mainly, DON’T judge yourself in any way! Just let the feelings come out and experience them, without any attachments. Be an observer of your own feelings, without any attachment or judgment. If you start having any feeling like “I can’t”, just start experiencing feelings of “I canĀ“t” and let them go as well.
  4. Start surrendering yourself to these feelings slowly; let them express themselves fully all over your body (or any other part where you feel them most intensively). Don’t push them back; don’t block them or act on them either. Just let them be in their natural way and instead, be an independent observer, as if they weren’t even yours.
  5. After a while, decide about letting them go once and forever, and then let them actually go and disappear.
  6. Once the wave of the feelings is let go, ask yourself: “Who am I”?
  7. If you l feel any negative or unclear feelings again, repeat the process from the first step, until these negative feelings and negative self-judgments are gone.

After some practice, you will really start feeling and understanding your true nature. It will be a very positive revelation and it will slowly start changing your life and increasing your self-esteem. Don’t be afraid of doing this practice more often and keep practicing for weeks, or even months.

Just be yourself!

You Need Rest, So What’s Stopping You?

You Need Rest, So What’s Stopping You?

For many, the title alone is imposing, because so many of us have experienced the need of rest alongside its impossibility. Finding the time or opportunity – we’ve tried and tried, but so often we’ve been thwarted. Or sometimes we’ve actually made the space to rest, but our mind wouldn’t switch off.

The burdens of the past or future continued to toll a bell that rang so loudly in our present we found resting futile.

Don’t give up so easily.

Rest is a fickle thing, or at least it seems that way. Closer to the truth, rest is a habit. It’s like how God taught me how to nap for alertness – it was all in the relaxation routine I could put my eye lids through. It took me a year to learn how to lose consciousness in a minute. Rest is something we have to actually learn. We have to be willing to press in and engage in it. God will teach us if we’re willing to make the room to learn.

We have to persist in learning how to quiet the mind. We’re blessed when we’re in touch with the physiological act of slowing our heart rate through focused mindfulness.

If we struggle to engage in rest, beyond excuses (which are all too easy to find and vocalize), we need to ask ourselves if we believe in it; in its benefits; in having the capacity to achieve it; in making the efforts required to give rest a chance. Belief could be our challenge.

But rest is easy to believe in. We all know it works. But it’s only as we truly journey with rest, over the years, that God teaches us the multiplicity of creative and recuperative blessing in it. Through rest is more of the fruit of the Spirit: peace, joy, gentleness, self-control certainly.

Tomorrow morning, real early, I’m going to the beach. Only for a few hours. But it’ll be enough for God to reconnect me with my spirit and my soul. God’s Presence will prove real in some surprising way. Something new will happen, and the smaller that thing, the better for my soul. I’ll sit there on my little sand-level chair, with a snack and a beverage, a pen and some paper. And, there, get lost.

Rest is a rewarding activity, spiritually, which helps us emotionally and mentally.

So, come again to the question: what’s stopping you? Depart. Disappear.

Disappear for a few moments and you learn the world works just fine without you.

Learn About Controlling Stressful and Relax

Did you know there is a direct link to stress and health? It can be mental health or even physical health. There are many common ailments that can be prevented by living a relatively stress-free life and the following article will give you some solid advice on how to start living that life today.

If you’re feeling stressed out, try going for a walk. Walking will increase the circulation in your body and get your blood flowing. It also gives you a chance to get some fresh air and to clear your head. A quick ten-minute walk can help you feel much more relaxed.

Do not respond to stress or stressful situations without analyzing your emotional state. Rather, take a step back, count to 10 and compose yourself. If you can’t do this, just walk away from situations until you are in the right frame of mind to deal with them. It is important not to rush into dealing with situations if you are not calm and in control.

Admit your stress. Each of us have our own stress signal, whether is it teeth gritting, neck pain, shoulder pain, shallow breathing, or loss of temper. Take time to figure out what yours is and then say out loud, “I am feeling stressed” once you start to feel that way. Saying it and realizing you are starting to feel stressed will help slow down the negative emotions.

Getting a great massage is a fantastic way to reduce stress. Massage is very relaxing and will help reduce blood pressure and help you get more sleep. Stress causes muscle tension and headaches. Massage will relax the muscles and will help reduce pain and aches throughout the body, leading to a less stressful mind.

You should never feel as though your stress is a victimless crime. It is sure to be affecting those people nearest and dearest to you. Even if it doesn’t cause your children to be scared of you or your coworkers to avoid you, there is always one other victim – you.

A good tip that can help you keep your stress down is to not worry too much about things that haven’t happened yet. Obsessing about events in the future will keep you on edge and feeling stressed out all the time. You have to learn to deal with things as they come. Do your best to enjoy the moment that you are in, and never feel guilty about enjoying life.

Believing Dreams Will Come True

Believing Dreams Will Come True

Until when will you believe? What if you did everything you could, while believing, and still nothing’s happening? What will you do?
A. Let go?
B. Continue believing?
C. Work on something else?
I read somewhere that writing your goals will make it real for you. So, one time in December 2012, I wrote my goals, with a timeline. I felt superman powers that day that I thought by just writing all my very specific goals down (date with events), God will hear it and He will make it come true for me! Yes, like magic!

I am believing that and I believed it true that every day, I’d look at my list and would excitedly imagine it happening soon! Every morning I’d read my list and I’d pray for it.
Do you know what happened? Two out of the seven items came true! And guess what?! with exact time (month and year) and events!

Was it magic? Was it just perfect timing? Was it pure luck? or Was it because I believed?
What do you think? But, you know what? to this day I have not let go. I continue to believe that my five other items will come true soon!

I have to tell you though that even if I’d look at my list still, daily, and pray for it, I made sure to leave my concerns, worries and issues in God’s hands. Sister Teresa of Calcutta heard the voice of God while traveling by train, she believed it. She said it was a call within a call that she was to serve the poor in the slums. She asked permission, and even if it took a while for the permission to be granted, she didn’t lose hope. She said it wasn’t her will, it’s God’s will. She continued to believe, and the rest was history.

It is fun to dream! It is fun to look ahead and see the possibilities that are in store for us! It is fun to believe! As the days passed by in December 2012 and no event was happening, I knew there was nothing I could do if it wasn’t time yet. It will never be because I will it, it was all about God’s will, all according to His perfect timing.

Friends, there are three important things to think about here:

First, I hope we learn to let go. Not to let go of our dreams, but to let go of worrying, anxiety, and self-righteousness. If it is meant to be, God will make all our dreams come true for us. Right?

Second, I hope we will continue to believe in the beauty of our dreams. There will be a lot of times when we feel nothing is happening, but I believe that something within has started to grow, it just hasn’t shown in reality yet, but it is coming. It is coming soon!

Third, I hope we won’t get fixated that we forget to work on something else! Enjoy life! Show up!
Have fun! There is more to life than our dreams! Do something else! Embrace life’s other surprises!

I thank God for the options and alternatives.
My five items didn’t happen as planned. There were a lot of detours, diversions, stopovers, interruptions, challenges, and threats.
But, looking back now, it was beautiful! It was beautiful because it also came with a lot of hope, opportunities, lessons, joy and awesome surprises!
Just like Sister Teresa of Calcutta, let us not lose hope.
If God meant our dreams to come true, it will be in an easy and relaxed manner, in His perfect timing and for the highest good of all.
May all our dreams be blessed.
