We have all been there right?
Almost to a goal…
Then we do something to fuck it all up.
If you are anything like me, it isn’t pretty.
So why do we do it?
We do it to keep ourselves “SAFE”
I know seems a little crazy right?!?
Anytime our identity is out of its comfort zone it starts freaking out and will do anything to get back into it’s warm comfortable space.
Most of the time by saying things like “you aren’t good enough”
or by saying “you don’t need to do that today” so you aren’t consistent
or even “this isn’t working” so you stop before the goal.
I hear you screaming…
HOW DO WE FIGHT THIS?!?!?
When your identity wants to fight you just realize it is not feeling safe.
Ask yourself (out loud works best):
What am I feeling right now? When was the first time I felt this? (often this stems from something in your childhood)What did I make this mean? (that child made a declaration about life in that moment and every time you come up against something that feels that way it reinforces that statement hence a 6 or 7 year old often runs your life)
So unless you are being chased by a lion, remind that child that you are safe, you are more than capable, and that you can do this.
If need be, reach out for support.
I am here if you need me.
You are loved!
